THE TEAM NEWS
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
- It has not been an easy start for the Chennai Super Kings as after beating Mumbai Indians in the opening game of this edition, they have since lost to Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in two disappointing run chases.
- The biggest problem they have had has been at the top of the order with Shane Watson yet to fire and the speed of which they have scored runs has left them with far too much work to do so changes to the team are likely.
- Ambati Rayudu is fit again so he will almost certainly come back into the side which is a boost while Dwayne Bravo is also fit again and he comes into contention while there is a chance the bowling unit could also see some changes.
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
- Sunrisers Hyderabad got their first win of IPL 2020 under their belts last time out at the third attempt as they edged past Delhi Capitals by 15 runs so they will look to build on that against Chennai here.
- The return of Kane Williamson proved to be a major boost to the middle order as he hit 41 from 26 balls to help guide them to 162/4 and then the bowling unit did well to defend that total with Rashid Khan enjoying his best game so far with an outstanding 3/14 from his four overs.
- There is every chance that they go with the same eleven for this game after the solid performance in all facets but they rely heavily still on their top four batsmen and their strike bowlers Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
THE PREDICTION
Neither of these two teams have been particularly convincing so far having identical records of one win and two defeats so far. The Sunrisers have more momentum behind them after winning last time out but the Super Kings’ ageing team will have benefitted from a break after a busy early schedule. CSK are going to have to raise their game significantly but Rayudu’s return is significant for them and will lift them. The Sunrisers rely so heavily on their five/six key players but lack depth unlike CSK. Whether MS Dhoni’s men can pick themselves up and bounce back remains to be seen but they do have the depth and quality to edge this game.
