Zimbabwe are coming off the back of an extreme low having failed to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup. They now look to bounce back in front of their home fans in Harare against Ireland. As is often the case with Zimbabwe, most eyes will be on Sikandar Raza, who is comfortably their most important player, arguably with both bat and ball.
IRELAND
Ireland travel to Zimbabwe in what will be Paul Stirling’s first assignment as T20i captain. He has the likes of Harry Tector and Andy Balbirnie alongside him at the top of the order, whilst the pace of left-arm fast bowler Josh Little will no doubt play a key part over the course of this series. Lorcan Tucker is expected to get the nod as wicket-keeper over Neil Rock.
THE PREDICTION
The expectation is that Ireland might take a bit to really hit their stride across this series as they adapt to conditions in Harare, which obviously plays to Zimbabwe’s strengths as the host. Motivation will also be significantly high when it comes to Zimbabwe after such a disappointing T20 World Cup qualification campaign, so back them to start with victory.
