THE TEAM NEWS
WEST INDIES
- The strength-in-depth of West Indies’ batting was the key factor in their 35-run victory against Bangladesh which gives them a 1-0 lead in this three-match series with a game to go as their total of 193/5 upon winning the toss and batting first was comfortably enough for them to defend.
- The opening partnership of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers worked out well, the former scoring a half-century and the batting line-up as a whole is not expected to be altered for this third T20i with all-rounder Keemo Paul also likely to play once again.
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh’s over-reliance of Shakib Al Hasan once again ended up being their downfall last time out as despite his 68 not out, the lack of support afforded to him with the bat meant that the Tigers could only reach 158/6 chasing 194 to win.
- It would be no surprise to see Bangladesh mix up their batting in a bid to provide Shakib with some much-needed help if they are to level up this series because as it stands, they do not boast the firepower of the hosts.
THE PREDICTION
West Indies will be very confident of sealing this series here and they have every reason to be satisfied with how both the batters and bowlers performed across the last game. It’s hard not to see the Windies outscoring Bangladesh once again when you assess the form and firepower of their respective batting orders and Nicholas Pooran’s men clearly look further along in terms of their development as a team compared to their opponents. Therefore, expect West Indies to come out on top once again and wrap up a 2-0 series win.
