WEST INDIES
- An excellent all-round performance from the West Indies saw them bowl Australia out for the second consecutive T20i, after racking up a score of 196/4 despite being put in to bat by the tourists.
- Shimron Hetmyer starred with the bat, hitting 61 from just 36 balls and he was supported by Dwayne Bravo’s 47 from 34 deliveries, before the bowlers took charge as leg-spinner Hayden Walsh picked up three wickets.
- Nicholas Pooran continued to deputise as captain due to the injured Kieran Pollard and once again the fast turnaround in games makes the explosive all-rounder a big doubt once again in this third T20i, whilst fast bowler Fidel Edwards is expected to miss out due to an arm injury suffered in the second T20i.
AUSTRALIA
- After being dismissed for just 127 in the first T20i, Australia did not fare much better here against a rampant West Indies, bowled out this time for 140 as their desperate struggles with the bat continued.
- Once again all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was arguably the only Australian batter who impressed, scoring a second consecutive half century with the second highest score in the Aussie batting line-up only 19 by Moises Henriques.
- Ashton Turner could be selected for this third T20i in a bid to try and strengthen a hugely fragile batting line-up, whilst the tourists also have a number of fast bowling options in reserve if they wish to rotate on the bowling side after being hit for 196 runs in the second T20i.
THE PREDICTION
West Indies have dominated Australia with bat and ball over the course of the first two T20 matches of this five-game series and have the chance to take an unassailable 3-0 lead here. Despite the absence of Pollard, other players have stepped up to the plate with the bat in particular and Australia had no answer to their big hitting prowess in the second T20i. The tourists remain very much an experimental unit on this tour, with key players unavailable and captain Aaron Finch trying to figure out his best side and which players have the capabilities to remain in the side once the big guns return. A fresh pitch is expected for this third T20i, which may help the Australian batting line-up find some form, but the West Indies should still prove too strong for them here and ultimately seal the series with a third successive win.
