UNITED STATES

• United States will never forget their first fixture against a Test playing nation on home soil, which saw them beat Ireland by 26 runs this past Wednesday in the first of two T20i matches between the two sides.
• Despite the United States’ preparation being disrupted due to a spate of positive Covid-19 tests during pre-series testing, they have coped admirably and proved why they are in such good form in 20 over cricket, having now won their last seven fixtures in this format of the game.

IRELAND

• Ireland were stunned by opponents United States in the first T20i, their bowlers conceding 72 runs from the final five overs of the hosts’ innings, which left their batters chasing 189 to win, eventually falling short on 162/6.
• Only Barry McCarthy and Simi Singh can hold their heads up high among the bowlers after the first T20i, McCarthy taking four wickets and Singh bowling with a miserly economy rate and the two require better support in this match, whilst Lorcan Tucker should keep his place after scoring 57 not out, albeit in a losing chase.
