THE LOWDOWN

SCOTLAND

  • Scotland were outclassed by New Zealand across the first T20i and will need to significantly improve with the ball if they are to stand any chance in this second chance, with the batters having to chase 226 to win.
  • The loss of Kyle Coetzer has clearly been felt within the top order zx Scotland’s number 3, 4 and 5 batters contributed a combined total of 12 runs and this is an area in which they’ll be expecting better this time round.

NEW ZEALAND

  • New Zealand remain unbeaten across their European cricket tour as their batters indulged themselves upon the short boundaries in Edinburgh, racking up 225/5 with opener Finn Allen hitting his maiden T20i hundred.
  • Little is expected to change within the Black Caps line-up with their bowling attack likely to be very spin-heavy once again through players such as Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner.

THE PREDICTION

Scotland were unsurprisingly unable to shackle what is a very powerful New Zealand batting unit on Wednesday and the expectation is that a similar story could be on the cards once again, when taking into account the sheer strength and quality of the Black Caps top order. On the same ground as the last T20i, it is likely that another high-scoring encounter will occur should New Zealand be batting first. Regardless of whether they are setting or chasing a target, the tourists should comfortably triumph.
