THE TEAM NEWS
PAKISTAN
- Pakistan drew first blood in the opening T20 international on Saturday as they overcame Zimbabwe’s 156/6 to win by six wickets with seven balls to spare as they were always in control of the run chase.
- They have made changes in all of their matches so far and with back-to-back matches over Saturday and Sunday, there is a fair chance they will make a variety of changes here especially to the bowling unit.
- Shadab Khan was ruled out of the first match due to a leg strain and it is difficult to see him being thrown in here but Shaheen Shah Afridi and Imad Wasim could both come into the side while all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed could also return.
ZIMBABWE
- Zimbabwe will not have been too disappointed with their performance in the opening T20 match on Saturday although they will know they need to put a bigger score on the board than 156 against this Pakistani batting line-up.
- Wesley Madhevere continued his fine form smashing 70 from 48 balls which underpinned their batting performance but they will hope for more from Williams, Raza and Burl in the middle order.
- Their bowling unit continues to struggle against this Pakistani batting line-up and ultimately their inability to take wickets against this calibre of opposition will cost them but they may prefer bowling first here.
THE PREDICTION
Pakistan got off to a winning start in the opening T20 on Saturday and they will look to seal the series here. They have won all 12 previous meetings against Zimbabwe in this format and they were relatively comfortably on Saturday. They will look to build on that here and even if they make changes, their line-up should still be full of quality. Zimbabwe will know they simply have to score more runs if they are to challenge the hosts a bit more but that will not be easy. Even if they do, their bowlers are finding it difficult to take wickets and that gives Pakistan comfort that they can take risks and score heavily. Another relatively comfortable win for the hosts is surely on the cards.
