PAKISTAN
- Pakistan head into this one-off T20i full of confidence having just completed a fantastic comeback to seal a 2-1 ODI series victory over an Australian side, whose depleted bowling attack struggled against a magnificent top order performance from the hosts.
- Babar Azam is in wonderful form having recorded successive centuries in the ODI series and is expected to open the batting with Mohammad Rizwan, whilst Fakhar Zaman should bat at three.
AUSTRALIA
- Australia will have both Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar available after the duo were forced to miss the ODI series following positive Covid-19 tests, although the tourists remain without many of their star players through either injury or rest.
- White ball captain Aaron Finch has struggled hugely with the bat against Pakistan and comes into this encounter under pressure to gain a big score at the top of the order in a T20i likely to produce plenty of runs.
THE PREDICTION
Although Australia boasts real quality amid their spin department through Adam Zampa in particular, the likelihood is that their quicker bowlers will struggle against such a strong Pakistan top order and unlike the Aussies, Babar Azam’s side is stacked with world class pacemen such as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. Since losing to Australia in last year’s T20 World Cup semi-final, the hosts have won each of their last six T20i matches and are expected to gain revenge on their opponents for that semi-final heartbreak with victory in this one-off T20i fixture.
