IRELAND

• Ireland put in a good performance with the bat in the first T20i against South Africa on what is usually a high scoring Bristol pitch, but their total of 190/9 was 21 runs short of their opponents, meaning yet another defeat for them this summer.
• We mentioned Harry Tector in our last preview and the young Irish star shone once again for his country, smashing 78 from just 38 balls, but ultimately until the bowlers can significantly tighten up, Tectors efforts will likely be in vain.

SOUTH AFRICA

• South Africa have largely batted excellently throughout this tour of England and racked up another huge score on Wednesday, accumulating 211/5 batting first which proved more than enough to take a series lead.
• Opener Reeza Hendricks continued his good form with the bat, scoring 74 and putting further pressure on the Proteas selectors, who will have some tough calls to make once the T20 World Cup comes around.

THE PREDICTION

This second T20i will be South Africa’s final white ball fixture of this English summer before they replaced coloured clothing with whites and gear up for their three-match Test series against England. However, they will want to finish on a high and wrap up the series in the process. On a friendly batting surface at Seat Unique Stadium, the Proteas top order should once again be able to cash in on an Ireland bowling attack that has been dealt some rough treatment throughout the summer in T20i cricket. This should lay the foundations for another comfortable win for South Africa here.
