THE TEAM NEWS

INDIA

  • After being outplayed by England in the first T20, India bounced back in style as they dominated the second game on Sunday by seven wickets as they managed to produce a disciplined bowling display following by some explosive batting.
  • They made two changes for that game by bringing Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav into the side and the former was in sparkling form smashing 56 from 32 balls and the duo will surely keep their places for this third match.
  • The only real negative was KL Rahul’s struggles continuing and after a six-ball duck, the rested Rohit Sharma could well come in for him in what is likely to be the only change from the side that won on Sunday.

ENGLAND

  • England came back down to earth in the second T20 as they were undone by an impressive Indian side yet they will rue letting slip of some good positions and some uncharacteristically sloppy fielding and catching that did not help their cause.
  • There is a chance that they could make one or two changes as they will hope to have Mark Wood fit again after he missed the second game with a knock while Moeen Ali is a candidate to come in to provide a second spin option.
  • Chris Jordan and Tom Curran are the two players whose positions could be under some threat after expensive figures in the second T20 and it would be no surprise if the duo drop out.

THE PREDICTION

This T20 series is finely poised come into the third game of this five-match series as India levelled the series last time out. After England comprehensively won the opening game, the hosts returned the favour on Sunday so it will be interesting to see if this plays out as a closer contest. The clear advantage has been to the team batting second and both teams will look to field first if they win the toss. The market will shift significantly towards whoever wins the toss and understandably so although the fact there will be no fans allowed into the remaining games could well favour the tourists. There is little between the two teams but India looked to get their mojo back on Sunday and will take some stopping now. This really could go either way however and backing the chasing team is as sensible as anything coming into this game.
