INDIA
- India were comprehensively outplayed in the first T20 as England’s superb start with the ball caused the hosts all kinds of problems and several of their batsmen did look woefully out of touch so a big response is needed here.
- The decision to rest Rohit Sharma for the first couple of T20 matches looks to have backfired already with Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul struggling in the opening game and Dhawan especially looked woefully out of touch as he laboured to just four runs from 12 balls before being bowled by Mark Wood.
- The early wickets put them in a tough situation they never really recovered from and they will be aware they have to step up big time to compete against this England team while changes could be in the offing with Deepak Chahar a candidate to come in for one of the spinners.
ENGLAND
- England were in sparkling in the first T20 in all facets of the game as their bowlers were in impressive form, their fielding was impeccable, while they knocked the runs off with ease on something of a two-paced pitch.
- Despite nursing an elbow injury, Jofra Archer was in outstanding form and they will hope there is no recurrence so he can form part of their bowling attack once again as they look to build on that opening win.
- There is every chance that they name an unchanged side for this game as while they have Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Tom Curran and Liam Livingston waiting in the wings, they will surely repeat the same eleven.
THE PREDICTION
England produced a stunning display in the first T20 as they completely dominant the hosts to silence the crowd but they will be expecting India to fight back and produce a major reaction to that loss. Eoin Morgan’s men were simply better in every facet of the game in the first game and it will take a major improvement from India to bounce back here. They simply have to bat much better and they need the top order to do much better if they are to close the gap. Virat Kohli is under pressure to lead from the front but there is little chance of England easing off the gas. The preference of both teams will be to field first and that could play a part in deciding this game, but pre-toss, England have to be favoured given how strong they were in the opening game.
