THE TEAM NEWS

ENGLAND

  • England eased to victory in the opening T20 match against the West Indies on Monday evening as they hit a strong 163/8 and then restricted the tourists to just 116/6 to win by 47 runs.
  • Tammy Beaumont led the way on her return to the side with an impressive 62 from 49 balls while Heather Knight and Amy Jones chipped in with important contributions as the batting looked extremely strong once again.
  • The bowling unit was just as impressive with Katherine Brunt going for just eight runs from her four overs and with such a strong all-round and complete performance, an unchanged line-up is on the cards here.

WEST INDIES

  • It was a difficult opening game for the West Indies as they fell to defeat and were never rally in the game during the run chase as they lost too many early wickets to ever come close to the target of 164.
  • Deandra Dottin was the undoubted star with the bat smashing 69 from 59 balls but she was the only batter to reach double figures as key figures such as Hayley Matthews and Stafania Taylor looked woefully out of touch.
  • Despite being outplayed in all facets of the game, it is unlikely they will make changes for this game as their issues come from a lack of competitive matches so they will be keen to keep faith with the same group of players and hope they can improve and be more competitive.

THE PREDICTION

England outplayed the Windies in the opening T20 match and they are expected to do the same once again here. The hosts were dominant with the bat and looked much more dangerous with the ball and even with a game under their belts, it is hard to see the tourists reducing the gap enough to compete. Only Dottin looked in good form with the bat and it would be no surprise if she led the way once again as their topscorer here. Ultimately though, a comprehensive win for England is on the cards once again.
