BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh took a 2-0 lead in the series against New Zealand, although they were made to work much harder for it this time round, winning by just four runs as they successfully defended a score of 141/6.
- The bowlers put in a fantastically economical performance, with Mahedi Hasan in particular shining with two wickets for the loss of just 12 runs, veteran Shakib Al Hasan also took two wickets.
- Twice so far in the series Bangladesh have named the same team and after two win in a row and no injuries reported, the same is expected once again in the third T20i.
NEW ZEALAND
- New Zealand put up a far better fight in the second T20i, but despite losing just five wickets, failed to chase down their target of 142 on another difficult batting track, falling just short.
- Stand-in skipper Tom Latham played a captain's innings at number three scoring 65 not out, but was simply not afforded to adequate supported needed to help get his side over the line.
- Bowler Ben Sears and Hamish Bennett were brought into the side in place of Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy and the Black Caps may look at recalling Tickner and/or Duffy for this third T20i.
THE PREDICTION
New Zealand can take heart from their performance in the second T20i and further improvement could finally see them finally get off the mark in this five-match series. However, Bangladesh in these conditions continue to prove themselves as an incredibly strong team in this form of the game. Not changing their team is likely to also work in Bangladesh’s favour once again, with New Zealand perhaps struggling to gain any proper momentum. Once again in this third T20i, the experience of the hosts alongside their formidable slow bowling attack is expected to lead them to victory against a weakened Black Caps team.
