THE TEAM NEWS
BANGLADESH
- Whilst Bangladesh have already sealed a series win vs Australia, the fourth T20i between the two sides saw the hosts between by three wickets in a tight contest.
- On another difficult pitch for batting, the Tigers’ top order struggled with the highest score of the innings just 28 from opener Mohammad Naim as Bangladesh made just 104/9 batting first.
- Fellow opener Soumya Sarkar has failed to accrue a single double figure score across the four matches played so far and it would not be a surprise to see him taken out of the firing line in this final T20i, although Bangladesh may not wish to alter a line-up that has gone unchanged throughout the entire series so far.
AUSTRALIA
- Australia finally got themselves on the board in this fourth T20i, although they made hard work of chasing 105, once again losing regular wickets on what was admittedly a very tough pitch to bat on.
- The experienced Dan Christian was the hero for the tourists, smashing five 6s in a knock of 39 from 15 deliveries which ultimately broke the back of the run chase, whilst Ashton Agar saw the Aussies home with 27 not out in as many balls.
- After fast bowler Mitchell Starc was rested last time out, fellow bowler Josh Hazlewood could be afforded a break this time to either bring Starc back in, or give the likes of either Jason Behrendorff or Wes Agar an opportunity to show what they can do.
THE PREDICTION
Whilst Bangladesh came out on the losing end of proceedings in the fourth T20i, they made a real fight of it despite a low total and were only undone really due to the violent hitting of Christian. Despite that knock, Australia’s batting by and large still look very much alien to the conditions and may well struggle once again in this final T20i. Bangladesh’s bowlers are expected to dominate proceedings as they have throughout this series and provided that they snuff out any attempt at an individual big-hitting onslaught from the tourists early on, then the Tigers should go on to secure victory and a 4-1 series triumph.
