SOUTH AFRICA
- South Africa produced a brilliant win over India in their opening ODI clash of the series to carry on where the Test side left off and they will be confident of recording another success in this second clash.
- A sensational fourth-wicket partnership of 204 from Rassie van der Dussen (129*) and captain Temba Bavuma (110) proved to be the difference between the two teams and that pair will be integral once again.
INDIA
- India succumbed to a disappointing loss in their first game against South Africa and the pressure is mounting on them after producing some underwhelming performances across all formats of the game of late.
- The failure to remove South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen proved to be costly and while there were a handful of solid knocks in response, including half-centuries for Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kholi and Shardul Thakur, it was not enough as they fell short of their target of 297.
THE PREDICTION
South Africa upset the odds in the opening ODI of the series and they can repeat that feat by securing another win over India. The tourists were competitive but ultimately fell short in a high-quality first game which sets the series up nicely. The Indians are capable of responding here but with the bit between their teeth, the hosts can make it back-to-back wins and seal the series with a game to spare.
