THE LOWDOWN
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
- After a really poor start to the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad finally got on the win column in this year’s IPL, beating fellow strugglers Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets, but face a tougher assignment here against a team in excellent form.
- Most impressive from SRH’s perspective against Chennai was the opening partnership of captain Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma, the latter scoring 75 as they two put on 89 for the first wicket, breaking the back of the run chase.
GUJARAT TITANS
- Gujarat Titans have been among the biggest surprises in their debut IPL season, winning all three of their matches played so far, most recently triumphing against Punjab Kings in a match that will be remembered for it’s incredible finish.
- Needing 12 runs to win from the final two deliveries, Rahul Tewatia smashed successive sixes in an unbelievable showcase of nerves, skill and power to drag his team over the finish line, reaching their target of 190.
THE PREDICTION
Whilst Sunrisers Hyderabad enter this encounter with renewed confidence following that win over Chennai, they face a significant stronger opponent here, whose momentum must be sky high right now following that stunning result against Punjab. Provided that the Titans can break the SRH opening partnership early on, then they should be able to keep them locked down with the ball. When also taking into account the strength-in-depth of Gujarat down the order, particularly from a big-hitting perspective, backing them to make it four wins on the bounce here has to be favoured.
