THE LOWDOWN

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • Rajasthan Royals’ bowling unit once again showed its class against Royal Challengers Bangalore as they have throughout this season’s IPL so far, bowling out RCB for just 115 and ensuring that their total of 144/8 batting first was a winning one.
  • Spin-bowler Ravichandran Ashwin was utilised as a pinch hitter against RCB, striking 17 from 9 balls batting at number 3 and it will be interesting to see if the experienced Indian international is utilised once again in this position depending on the match situation.

MUMBAI INDIANS

  • Mumbai Indians are embarrassingly still searching for that illusive first win of this season’s IPL having lost all eight games they have played so far, an unwanted feat never achieved before by any IPL franchise
  • Bowler Dhawal Kulkarni has been signed by Mumbai in a bid to try and arrest their struggles with the ball and the experienced pacer could make his debut in this match.

THE PREDICTION

If you told a cricket fan that one of these two franchises would go 0-8 in the 2022 IPL, the vast majority would have guessed it to be Rajasthan Royals. Alas, whilst Sanju Samson’s side have enjoyed a fantastic tournament so far, Rohit Sharma’s men continue to dramatically slump. Against such a well drilled side like Rajasthan who have all bases covered with the ball and explosive firepower with the bat, the Royals have to be favoured to extend Mumbai’s losing streak.
