THE LOWDOWN

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • Rajasthan Royals couldn’t follow up from their narrow 3-run triumph over Lucknow Super Giants, losing out by 37 runs to Gujarat Titans this past Thursday after failing to chase down 193.
  • Jimmy Neesham was brought in as Rajasthan’s fourth overseas player for the match due to an injury suffered by fellow countryman Trent Boult and whether he keeps his place remains to be seen as he was unable to take a wicket across his three overs, with the Royals hoping that Boult is fit to return.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

  • Back-to-back defeats have stunted Kolkata Knight Riders progress in the competition with their poor bowling largely at fault, their latest loss coming at the hands of a resurgent Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets.
  • It would be no surprise if KKR looks to perhaps make a change to their bowling attack in a bid to not only bring more potency to their side, but also stem the vast flow of runs they are conceding at present

THE PREDICTION

Each time that Rajasthan Royals have fallen short in the 2022 IPL, they have usually bounced back strongly and it would be no surprise if they did the same here against a side short on confidence. Whilst KKR clearly have not figured out their strongest formula within their bowling unit, Rajasthan on the hand do seem to have a settled arsenal and this should serve them well here, although the absence of Boult would be a huge blow if he is forced to miss out once again. Despite this however, as Rajasthan did successfully the last time they were beaten, Sanju Samson's side are expected to come back strongly and get back on the winners' podium.
