THE PREDICTION
Both these sides know a good start is absolutely crucial here in their respective bids to reach the play-off stage of the competition with the two currently well behind the top three teams from a points perspective. Of the overseas withdrawals since the beginning of the tournament, Rajasthan Royals have arguably been hit the hardest, losing both Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler after having already being forced to do without Jofra Archer due to injury. The trio’s absence is a huge blow for the Royals and plenty of pressure now falls on the shoulders of all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who comes into the IPL’s resumption on the back of a wonderful summer both domestically and internationally, alongside newly crowned CPL winner Evin Lewis. It may however, take a couple of games for them to settle into their new surroundings and Punjab Kings with a more settled side and stronger contingent of Indian players, should come out on top here.
