THE LOWDOWN
PUNJAB KINGS
- Punjab Kings took full advantage of Gujarat Titans choosing to bowl first in their clash on Tuesday, beating the league leaders by eight wickets after comfortably chasing down 146.
- It is unlikely that the Kings will look to change anything drastic following that victory, with a win here drawing them level on points with Rajasthan.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS
- Last Saturday saw Rajasthan Royals suffer the indignity of becoming the first side to lose to Mumbai Indians this year and two days later, the Royals once again helped their opponents snap a losing streak, falling to Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets.
- Rajasthan have persisted with Devdutt Padikkal at the top of the order alongside Jos Buttler, but after yet another failure with the bat, it would be no surprise if they perhaps look to tinker in this match.
THE PREDICTION
The biggest worry for Rajasthan Royals at present is their reliance on Buttler at the top of the order, although Sanju Samson’s half-century against KKR was a welcome contribution. Rajasthan’s bowling attack is their strongest suit. However, they face off against a potentially explosive Punjab batting unit high on confidence who are capable of finding the boundary at will. This is a big test for the Royals, who have really disappointed across their last two games and it would be no surprise if Punjab Kings were to inflict a third successive defeat upon their opponents.
