KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
- Kolkata Knight Riders are coming off the back of an excellent bowling display last time out, which saw them bowl out Punjab Kings for 137, before chasing that target down with six wickets remaining.
- The bowling attack of KKR is only set to improve for this match as Australian international Pat Cummins is expected to make his first appearance of this year’s IPL for Shreyas Iyer’s side.
MUMBAI INDIANS
- It has been anything but the start Mumbai Indians would have wanted, the five-time champions having lost each of their opening two matches, first against Delhi Capitals and most recently vs Rajasthan Royals, who triumphed over Rohit Sharma’s side by 23 runs
- Top order batter Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the squad following treatment for a finger injury and will be hoping to be passed fit in time to feature in this one.
THE PREDICTION
Although Mumbai Indians are well known for that slow starts in the IPL, they have ample reason to be slightly concerned this year. The loss of Yadav through injury has definitely had a big effect across those first two matches and all-rounder Tim David has yet to fire after being bought for big money at the mega auction. They have also hugely missed Trent Boult, who is now playing a key part in Rajasthan’s resurgence this season. KKR have so far shown positive signs across the competition in 2022, but are yet to record successive victories. The expectation is that Mumbai will get themselves back on the winning track sooner rather than later and this could be the fixture that they finally fire. Consider backing Rohit and his team here, but only if Yadav is named in their starting line-up.
