RAJASTHAN ROYALS
- Rajasthan Royals got off to a losing start against Punjab Kings as they fell agonisingly short by four runs in a thrilling run-fest which saw 438 runs scored in Mumbai which went down to the final ball.
- Not only did they suffer the defeat but star all-rounder Ben Stokes suffered a broken bone in his hand and has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament which is a massive loss along with the absence of Jofra Archer.
- That will hand an opening to Liam Livingstone or potentially David Miller as they will look to replace Stokes with another batsmen to bolster the line-up and the likelihood is that the Englishman will get the nod here.
DELHI CAPITALS
- Despite missing some of their key overseas players, Delhi Capitals won their first game in style as they comfortably chased down Chennai Super Kings’ 188/7 with seven wickets and eight balls to spare.
- They will still be without South Africa fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje once again but after such a resounding victory, they will likely name an unchanged line-up to face the Royals.
- The batting looked in sensational form with Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan smashing the CSK bowlers to all parts with an opening stand of 138 and they will be confident against the Royals’ bowling attack that will be missing Stokes and Archer.
THE PREDICTION
Both Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals are missing some key players coming into this game but it is the Capitals who look much more equipped to deal with their absentees. They went without Rabada and Nortje in their first game and while they conceded a relatively high total batting first, their batting more than made up for it. Their bowling unit is better than that performance would suggest however and they should manage to cope for one more game with their key South African duo. The Royals however struggled in their opening game and the loss of Stokes will dent their hopes and confidence even more so. Barring more heroics form Sanju Samson, another defeat is on the cards for them as the Capitals should get the win.
