THE TEAM NEWS
DELHI CAPITALS
- Delhi Capitals successfully came through the first Super Over of this edition of the IPL on Sunday as they edged past the Sunrisers Hyderabad to take their record to four wins and just one defeat from their opening five matches.
- They will have been a little disappointed only to manage 159/4 when batting first in that game as they never seemed able to completely let loose in Chennai but they will have plenty of confidence as they move to Ahmedabad now.
- Ravi Ashwin has not travelled with the team having decided to stay in Chennai with his family due to concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic so Anrich Nortje likely comes into the side now, while they will hope Rishabh Pant can overcome illness to play here.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
- After winning their opening four matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first game of this edition of the IPL at the hands of Chennai Super Kings on Sunday as they failed in pursuit to becoming the first team start a campaign with five wins in a row.
- While that 69-run defeat will not have gone down well with Virat Kohli and his team, they still have plenty of reason for optimism after an excellent start and they will be eager to bounce back immediately.
- They will be without Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa for the remainder of the IPL who have departed due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic in India but neither have made much of an impact in this edition and they could well name an unchanged side.
THE PREDICTION
Two of the standout teams of this edition of the IPL so far meet in Ahmedabad as Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore face off. Delhi Capitals won a close encounter with Sunrisers Hyderabad last time out on the Super Over while RCB went down for the first time in a heavy defeat to CSK. They will be eager to bounce back here and test themselves against one of the best teams in the competition but they will have to bat and bowl much better. That loss was likely just an aberration and they should lift themselves but the Capitals are going to be a tough opponent. They are playing some excellent all-round cricket and they will fancy their chances. The absence of Ravi Ashwin is a loss but they have plenty of quality to overcome that absence and they are marginally favoured to get the win and inflict a second successive defeat on Kohli’s men.
