MUMBAI INDIANS
- Mumbai Indians have won three of their first five matches in the 2020 edition of the IPL and they have good momentum behind them right now having won their last two games when batting first against Kings XI and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- The win over the Sunrisers at the weekend saw Quinton de Kock finally put a strong innings together as he hit 67 from 39 balls and his improvement is hugely welcome to what is an incredibly strong batting line-up.
- James Pattinson continues to do well and he took another two wickets including the key wickets of Warner and Pandey at a key time so even though Nathan Coulter-Nile is edging closer to fitness, Pattinson should keep his place based on this form.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS
- After winning their opening two matches of IPL 2020, Rajasthan Royals have lost their last two games against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore so they are under some pressure here to bounce back.
- They were dominated by RCB last time out as they went down by eight wickets as their batsmen struggled so the likes of Smith, Buttler and Samson will be eager to bounce back and rediscover the good form they showed prior to that.
- Ben Stokes has arrived in the UAE but he continues to quarantine so is not available just yet and they may end up going unchanged with this likely to be Tom Curran’s final game before Stokes comes into the side.
THE PREDICTION
These two teams are on different trajectories right now as the Mumbai Indians are in fine form having won their last two games convincingly, while Rajasthan Royals have lost their last two and have been under par. The Royals are hoping that Ben Stokes can return in their next match and spark them into life but they will have to give it their all without him here. They will have to significantly raise their game here against this Mumbai side that is performing well right now. They are looking strong with the bat, the bowling unit is improving with every game and their key all-rounders are in excellent form. It is hard to look beyond them unless Buttler, Smith and company can hit top form here.
