THE TEAM NEWS
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
- Chennai Super Kings are under some pressure right now as they have just six points from their nine matches which means they faced the Rajasthan Royals four points off the fourth and final play-off place.
- They have lost three of their last four games and the defeat to the Delhi Capitals on Saturday was particularly damaging so they will have to bounce back quickly here against the Royals who they have already lost against this season.
- CSK have a major injury doubt over Dwayne Bravo so that will force them to change things around here and that may just about convince them to bring Imran Tahir for his first appearance of the season rather than Josh Hazelwood.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS
- After winning their first two games, Rajasthan Royals have lost six of their last seven matches coming into this game so the mood in the camp is not overly positive after another loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday.
- The batting order saw yet another change as Robin Uthappa moved to open with Jos Buttler moving down and while they posted a competitive score of 177/6, it was still nowhere near enough with their fragile bowling attack unable to come close to defending it.
- Their options to change things around are relatively limited at the moment but the bowling unit could see a change among their local bowlers as they once again will rely heavily on Jofra Archer to make a difference especially with Ben Stokes yet to really contribute much with the ball.
THE PREDICTION
Desperate times for both the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals as they both sit on six points, four points adrift of fourth place. Defeat here will make it virtually impossible for the losing side to reach the play-offs with just four games remaining so the pressure if firmly on them here. Chennai Super Kings are competing better in recent times while the Royals have lost six of their last seven with their line-up in disarray. They are changing the batting order every game and too many of their star players are not quite hitting top form. CSK are not playing much better but MS Dhoni is getting some fight out of his team. They are marginally preferred due to the greater consistency and stability in their team in this crunch game.
