THE TEAM NEWS

DELHI CAPITALS

  • Delhi Capitals will be hoping to immediately recapture the form they showed in the first phase of the 2021 IPL, which saw them win six of their eight games played and victory here would see them move top of the table.
  • Whilst the Capitals will be without left-arm spin-bowler M Siddharth due to injury and England all-rounder Chris Woakes who has opted not to compete in the second phase of the IPL, Delhi have brought in former RCB player Kulwant Khejroliya and Australian Ben Dwarshuis as replacements.

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

  • It has been a nightmare IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad so far and they’ll be desperate hoping that the change in location and long break between matches serves as a complete reset for them.
  • SRH will be without England international Jonny Bairstow heading into the tournament’s resumption, plenty of overseas superstars will be available such as Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, David Warner and Bairstow’s replacement, Sherfane Rutherford.

THE PREDICTION

Despite boasting a plethora of top-quality individual players, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been unable to click as an all-round unit this year, with leadership issues also plaguing their camp. David Warner was replaced as captain by Kane Williamson after the Australian was dropped from the side and head coach has been unable to settle on a consistent starting XI across the entire tournament so far, chopping and changing at an alarming rate. On the contrary, last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals have enjoyed another successful campaign thus far with a strong balance within their team, not to mention an intimidating top-order containing players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Steve Smith. Such firepower, combined with the right mix of youth and experience across their entire side is likely to see them come out of the blocks firing here, taking advantage of SRH’s weaknesses and ultimately forcing victory.
