THE TEAM NEWS

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad kept their slim hopes of qualifying for the play-offs alive with a seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals, which saw them chase down a target of 165 with nine balls remaining.
  • Captain Kane Williamson helped guide his side home with an unbeaten half-century, but the star of the show was the newly installed Jason Roy at the top of the order with 60, a score which should see him keep his place over the dropped David Warner.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

  • Chennai Super Kings were on the brink of defeat last time out against Kolkata Knight Riders until Ravindra Jadeja smashed 22 runs from eight balls before the tail finished the job, completing their chase of 172 off the final ball of the match to secure a third successive victory since the IPL’s resumption in the UAE.
  • West Indian Dwayne Bravo was rested against KKR in a bid to preserve his fitness and it would be no surprise if he came back into the team here, possibly replacing Sam Curran.

THE PREDICTION

Sunrisers Hyderabad surprised many with their win over Rajasthan, rolling the dice in terms of their team and it paying off handsomely. However, Chennai Super Kings will prove far tougher opposition. Key for Chennai here will be experience at crucial moments. The likes of Jadeja, Raina, MS Dhoni are all capable of rescuing a game with the bat in the middle order, should the top three batters fail to accrue a score. SRH meanwhile, are far more dependent on their overseas stars to guide them through whilst Chennai boasts the superior Indian players and strength-in-depth within their side. When also taking into account the form of Dhoni’s side, back Chennai Super Kings to triumph in Sharjah.
