THE TEAM NEWS
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
- After going down to Sunrisers Hyderabad in an unexpected four-run defeat last time out, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s hopes of finishing in the top two are all but over, although victory by a large enough margin here over Delhi would give them a chance of overhauling Chennai Super Kings.
- Whilst bowling all-rounder George Garton picked up a wicket against SRH, his two overs went for 29 runs and with pitches in Dubai having offered assistance to spin in past games, it would be no surprise if he was replaced by Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga.
DELHI CAPITALS
- Delhi Capitals head into this one having already guaranteed top spot in the IPL league table ahead of the playoffs, an excellent achievement from Rishabh Pant’s men, who have won ten of their 13 matches played so far.
- The Capitals may well take the opportunity to rest a couple of players ahead of those playoffs, with fast bowlers such as Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada all contenders to taken out of the firing line for this one game.
THE PREDICTION
Royal Challengers Bangalore certainly won’t want to enter the playoffs on the back of successive defeats and a positive response is expected from Virat Kohli and his team following that surprise loss over Sunrisers. These two sides are well matches in terms of personnel, but the better consistency of Delhi sees them in a better position in the table. However, should the Capitals rest any of their key stars it could well open the door here for RCB. Whilst waiting for confirmation of the two teams before making any moves is paramount, backing Royal Challengers Bangalore to come out is worth serious consideration.
