THE PREDICTION
The second match-up between India and Pakistan in the 2022 Asia Cup takes place in the Super Four stage and once again at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India won a cracking group match between the two nations, Hardik Pandya the hero with the bat, dragging India over the line with two balls remaining by scoring 33 not out in a successful run chase of 148. Another close encounter is surely on the cards here, but India will be forced into a change of personnel. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament through injury and his loss not only with both bat and ball, but also in terms of his experience and dynamism in the field will be hugely missed by Rohit Sharma’s side. This may just tip the scales in Pakistan’s favour, who couldn’t have reacted any better to their defeat against India in the group stage, racking up 193/2 vs Hong Kong before bowling them out for just 38. Although it’s difficult sometimes to predict which Pakistan will show up in a massive contest such as this, the expectation is that they will be at their best and with India missing Jadeja, backing Pakistan to win here is well worth considering.
