THE PREDICTION
Essex’s 43-month unbeaten run at Chelmsford in first class cricket should have come to an end last weekend against Northamptonshire after another first innings batting collapse left them 197 runs behind the eight-ball. Yorkshire however, are unlikely to let them off the hook should the Eagles perform as poorly again. Their bowling attack should be afforded plenty of joy at Chelmsford if they put the ball in the right areas against an extremely fragile Essex top order and combine that with the form of talented batter Harry Brook, as well as the expected return of former England captain Joe Root to this Yorkshire side and the visitors have all the tools at their disposal to finally inflict defeat upon Essex on their own patch in red ball cricket.
