THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY THUNDER

  • Sydney Thunder are the form team in the Big Bash League after securing a sixth consecutive victory, seeing off Hobart Hurricanes in dominant fashion last time out and they will be out to record another success as they face the same team once again.
  • Thunder have been brilliant of late and have handed out several thrashings and their nine-wicket win last time out thanks to Alex Hales’ excellent 80* was another example of how dangerous this side can be.

HOBART HURRICANES

  • Hobart Hurricanes have it all to do if they are to reverse the form after their hammering at the hands of Sydney Thunder in their most recent outing in what was a third defeat in their last four matches.
  • The Hurricanes desperately need a win to solidify their spot on the ladder but they will need to improve with bat and ball here with a lot of pressure falling on the shoulders of opener Ben McDermott who is the leading run-scorer in the BBL 495 runs, 162 more than any other player in the competition.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Thunder are building up a head of steam ahead of the knockout phase of the Big Bash League and they will be desperate to maintain their momentum as they take on Hobart Hurricanes for the second time in quick succession. Thunder have won their last six games and look like they are capable of going all the way this year. The Hurricanes on the other hand have struggled for consistency and while they are capable of pulling a result out of the bag, the Thunder look a good pick to make it four wins in their past five meetings against the Hobart outfit.
