THE TEAM NEWS
ADELAIDE STRIKERS
- Adelaide Strikers slipped to a fourth successive BBL defeat this past Monday, losing to Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets after an excellent individual hundred from Ben McDermott blew the Strikers away.
- Matt Renshaw top scored for Adelaide with 63 and whilst it was a welcome return to form for Renshaw who hasn’t had the best BBL campaign, the Strikers seem to lack that X-Factor player with the bat who can play an innings like McDermott did for Hobart.
SYDNEY THUNDER
- Sydney Thunder made a real statement last time out which saw them end the 100% record of Perth Scorchers, beating them by 34 runs in Canberra following an excellent batting performance which saw them rack up 200/7 batting first.
- Sam Billings stood out once again for the Thunder, scoring 67 and could play a key role again here in what should be an unchanged side against Adelaide.
THE PREDICTION
Despite the presence of arguably the best T20 bowler in the world in Rashid Khan, Adelaide Strikers have been simply unable to get over the line in recent matches and here they host a team riding the crest of a wave following that victory against the Scorchers. The Thunder’s strength-in-depth trumps that of Adelaide and fast bowler Saqib Mahmood is expected to continue his good form with the ball which could see the away side gain crucial early wickets. Provided the top order take full advantage of both the powerplay and power surge, all whilst playing sensibly against mystery spin of Rashid, the momentum of Sydney Thunder is expected to see them victorious at the Adelaide Oval.
