THE LOWDOWN
MINISTER GROUP RAJSHAHI
- · Rajshahi suffered their first defeat of the tournament last time out as they went down to Fortune Barisal by five wickets with their 132/9 proving to be nowhere near enough even against one of the weaker teams in the competition.
- · They brought Rejaur Rahman in for that game in place of Arafat Sunny, and while he may be given another opportunity, it would be no surprise if they switched back as they have more faith in Sunny as a bowler.
- · Their success in the first couple of games relied on multiple contributions with bat and ball rather than individuals producing matchwinning performances but they will have to step that up a notch here as they face the impressive Chattogram outfit.
GAZI GROUP CHATTOGRAM
- · Chattogram picked up their third consecutive win on Monday as they beat Fortune Barisal by ten runs as they batted first this time and their bowlers still produced the goods as they defended 151/7.
- · There were some potential weaknesses in the batting as they batted first and they may suffer slightly from their middle order not spending much time in the middle as Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar have spent the vast majority of the team’s batting time at the crease.
- · The bowling attack is clearly the best in the competition as they have taken 28 wickets in their three matches so far with Mustafizur Rahman boasting figures of 11.1-1-41-9 and they will look to their in-form unit to lead them here once again.
THE PREDICTION
These two sides have arguably been the best two performers in the tournament so far but it is the Chattogram side that have really been the standout team. Their batting is strong with Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar at the top of the order but their bowling attack is outstanding. They will fancy their chances of getting into this Rajshahi batting order which struggled last time out against a relatively poor bowling attack. They will face a baptism of fire here against Mustafizur Rahman and company, and they can hand Chattogram a fourth consecutive victory here.
