THE LOWDOWN
BEXIMCO DHAKA
- · Dhaka were blown out by Chattogram last time out which means they are the only team without a win in this edition of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup and the pressure is on Mushfiqur Rahim’s men to break their duck.
- · Mushfiqur was as much to blame as anybody in the nine-wicket loss to Chattogram as he was out for a golden duck but other than Mohammad Naim who contributed 40 of the 88 total runs it was a miserable performance by virtually the entire team.
- · They made a couple of changes for the second game but the performance was significantly worse than their two-run loss in their opening match with Rajshahi so it would be no surprise to see one or two changes here also.
GEMCON KHULNA
- · After winning their opening match against Barisal, Khulna have lost to Rajshahi and Chattogram so they will be looking to bounce back and get a victory against the winless Beximco Dhaka.
- · Their batting has been particularly weak so far as none of their batsmen have scored a half century yet and star me Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah and Imrul Kayes have combined for just 76 runs in their nine innings.
- · They have made the occasional adjustment to their line-up and they may consider that once again here but unless their star men start to perform, they will continue to struggle to compete in matches.
THE PREDICTION
These two teams have been particularly poor in the tournament so far and it is difficult to have much confidence in either team. Khulna have the better side on paper with more quality in their ranks but their star men just are not producing the goods. There have been marginally more positives in their play than there has been for this Dhaka outfit however and Khulna have at least tasted victory once. There is little evidence though to confidently predict a winner with marginal preference going to Khulna based on the names in their team.
