THE PREDICTION
A total of 34.3 overs of play could be managed over the course of all four days in Northamptonshire’s draw with Group 3 leaders Lancashire as rain decimated the last round of County Championship fixtures. After six games, Northants have managed two wins, two draws and two defeats so need to get back to winning ways away to Sussex with a 22-point gap currently between them and second-placed Yorkshire, who travel to Lancashire for the Roses match.
Sussex in contrast have won just one of their six County Championship matches and their bowling unit will be significantly weakened for this encounter following the injury to fast bowler Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson having been called up for England test duty. Northamptonshire may be set to take advantage of this and should capitalise with the bat at Hove by racking up a strong score.
