THE PREDICTION
Fourth-placed Surrey failing to beat Middlesex in a rain-ravaged London derby draw looks like the death knell for them in terms of their Division One qualification hopes with 25 points now separating them from the top two in Group 2. Victory at home to group leaders Gloucestershire however, could put them back into the mix. The visitors also drew their most recent fixture against Somerset and they’ll have been delighted that rain played such a huge part in the match after they were reduced to 27/6 before the weather curtailed things.
Whilst Gloucestershire will be without wicketkeeper batsman James Bracey in this match as he joins the England camp ahead of the New Zealand test series, Surrey will be particularly hit hard by international call-ups with captain Rory Burns, batsman Ollie Pope and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes all unavailable for this one. West Indian overseas fast bowler Kemar Roach has also left the club after his overseas stint came to an end.
