THE PREDICTION
Somerset bounced back in style from their defeat at home to Gloucestershire with a comfortable nine-wicket victory at home to Leicestershire, their second win in three County Championship games so far this season. Here they host Middlesex who went one better than that in the London derby against Surrey. After dismissing their nearest rivals for just 154 and 130 respectively, Peter Handscomb’s side secured their first red-ball win of the season by ten wickets.
Both these sides boast incredibly strong bowling attacks and were involved in a thrilling contest at Lord’s to start the season, with Somerset ultimately coming out on top by four wickets after chasing down 285 runs in the fourth innings. This match taking place at Taunton already puts Somerset at an advantage and much will depend of their batting. The bowling unit that captain Tom Abell can call upon should prove strong enough to take 20 wickets vs Middlesex and providing that Somerset can stand up to a strong visiting bowling attack that includes the likes of former internationals Tim Murtagh and Toby Roland-Jones, then the home side are expected to once again get the better of Middlesex in the County Championship.
