THE PREDICTION
Somerset’s chances of winning the County Championship are all but over after they fell to a second successive innings defeat, this time against Yorkshire to leave them bottom of Division One. They now host Lancashire, who put up an admirable effort to avoid defeat away at league leaders Nottinghamshire, however ultimately succumbed to their fate on the final hour of Day 4 after a 108-run partnership for the ninth wicket gave them hope of salvaging a draw.
Despite their loss in Nottingham, the fight Lancashire showed stands them in good stead for this one against a Somerset unit low on confidence whose batting fragilities have firmly overwhelmed them since the resumption of red ball cricket. When taking into account such poor form, it’s difficult to see any outcome other than a Lancashire win here, however with the forecast looking gloomy, it would be wise to back the visitors through the draw no bet market.
