THE PREDICTION

Warwickshire’s win and draw over Nottinghamshire in their conference group sees them enter Division One as league leaders having carried 21 points over, more than any of the other five counties despite finishing below Nottinghamshire in the table. They face off against Lancashire, with the Red Rose having topped their conference group over bitter rivals Yorkshire, winning four and drawing five of their ten games. Warwickshire also accrued five draws from their ten conference matches, which is no surprise considering the strength of their batting over this season’s competition.

Lancashire will be without fast bowler Saqib Mahmood, which does blunt their pace attack although the leg-spin-bowling of Matt Parkinson normally proves fruitful at Emirates Old Trafford. Warwickshire could have Chris Woakes available as the England man continues his recovery from injury, however they will also be without a key fast bowler in Olly Stone. Both these sides are stronger batting units than they are bowling teams and a high scoring contest should be on the cards. With that in mind, it would be no surprise to see this one finish in a draw.
