THE PREDICTION
An impressive opening match performance by Glamorgan at Headingley against Yorkshire was only frustrated by some relatively heavy snow that nearly cleared out a full day of play. Billy Root and Chris Cooke’s unbeaten centuries in the second-innings helped to set up a potential victory before time ran out. A sharing of the wickets to keep Yorkshire below the minimum batting bonus points total of 200 in which four players took two wickets will be especially pleasing for the Welsh county.
Sussex managed to survive their trip to Old Trafford with 14 points intact thanks to a draw earned in part thanks to weather conditions and a determined 46 not out off nearly 200 balls from Aaron Thomason in the second-innings. They fell to 14-3 in the first innings and conceded 275 runs for Lancashire’s last six wickets. That batting frailty and frustrating bowling performance will be cause for concern for the visitors.
Given their respective performances last week, despite coming out with the same result, the hosts will consider themselves favourites for this one.
