THE PREDICTION
This all-Sydney affair should provide fireworks on the opening day of the Women’s Big Bash League. Both the Sixers and the Thunder missed out on the top four last year and they will be eager to rectify that. The Sixers are two-time winners and will be confident of at least challenging again this season, but they will need superstar Ellyse Perry to hit the ground running following her return from a long-term injury. There are doubts lingering over her ability with the ball after a nasty hamstring injury but Perry is adamant she will not be affected by it. The Thunder have added England pair Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont to boost their ranks and whilst they are capable of winning this, preference is just for the Sixers.
