THE PREDICTION
Sydney Thunder ended Brisbane Heat’s reign as Women’s Big Bash League champions as they dumped the back-to-back winners out in the semi-final to advance to their first final since winning the inaugural competition. They will take on Melbourne Stars who will compete in their first ever final having knocked out Perth Scorchers with another scintillating display. The Stars were the best team during the round robin which they highlighted by finishing top of the ladder before a dominant display against the Scorchers in their last four clash. Alana King did the damage with the ball as he accounted for the top three in the Scorchers' batting line-up, including the dangerous Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney. Nat Sciver then completed the job with the bat as she notched an unbeaten 47 to seal the seven-wicket success. The Thunder will also come into this on the back of a wonderful display as their efforts with the ball turned their game with the Heat on its head. Having looked set for defeat with the Heat at 119/4 in pursuit of 144, the Thunder ripped through the Brisbane middle and lower order to skittle them out for 131 in a devastating spell of bowling. Both teams will be confident after their efforts in the semi-final but the Stars boast that bit of extra quality and the best team in WBBL|06 can deservedly lift the trophy.
