THE PREDICTION
After suffering disappointment at the final hurdler last year despite winning all previous matches up to that stage, Guyana Amazon Warriors are fired up to go one better this time around and look to be finding something close to their best form at a key moment. They have won their last four games coming into the knockout phase and they have several key players such as Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Brandon King finding top form. They meet the St Lucia Zouks in the second semi-final and they have shown a marked improvement this year under coach Andy Flower. Their recent performances have been somewhat inconsistent as they have oscillated between being bowled out for 92 – yet still winning – but being hammered by the Amazon Warriors by seven wickets and 6.1 overs remaining. They will have to have seven or eight of their players to be somewhere close to their best to have a chance of winning here. Their key to success of late has been through their spinners but if this pitch does favour spinners, then the edge has to go to the Amazon Warriors and their T20 stars Chris Green and Imran Tahir. A repeat of last year’s final could well be on the cards and the Amazon Warriors are favoured to win this semi.
