Corentin Moutet vs Reilly Opelka prediction
Corentin Moutet has performed strongly in recent weeks and will look to continue that form with a deep run in Paris. He began his indoor swing with a run to the final of the Almaty Open, where he lost a tight three set final to former world number one Daniil Medvedev. Moutet would beat Medvedev in the following tournament in Vienna, making the last eight but losing to Lorenzo Musetti. The Frenchman has enjoyed his best year on tour and is up to a highest ranking of 32 in the world.
Reilly Opelka is his first-round opponent. Despite withdrawing from his qualifying match with Aleksandar Vukic, the American still enters the draw as a lucky loser. His run in Basel was impressive, as he got through to the quarter-finals as a qualifier, winning four matches in total before his event ended against Ugo Humbert.
He also leads the ATP head-to-head after winning a three set match at the Cincinnati Open four years ago. Opelka will always be a threat indoors with that serve of his, but Moutet is likely to dominate the rally exchanges and will hope to create plenty of opportunities.
