Corentin Moutet vs Daniil Medvedev prediction

Corentin Moutet reached his second ATP final of the season in Almaty as he produced a brilliant display to defeat Alex Michelsen. The Frenchman made a poor start as he went 3-0 down, but he recovered well to break back and then ultimately take the first set after breaking again. Moutet broke twice more in the second to win 7-5 6-4. He did create plenty of chances throughout the match, with 11 break point opportunities overall.

He will take on Daniil Medvedev in the final. The former world number one continued his resurgence as he came from a set down to see off James Duckworth. Medvedev lost the first set despite having two set points in the tiebreak. However, he came back to win 6-7 6-3 6-2. Medvedev wasn’t broken on serve and only conceded the one break point.

They played each other for the first time on the ATP Tour a few months ago, with Moutet beating Medvedev in the quarter-finals of the Washington Open. There’s so much on the line here, as the Frenchman bids for his first tour-level title while Medvedev aims for a first tournament victory since May 2023. Moutet will take great confidence from his win in July, but Medvedev has regained his form under a new coaching set up, having also reached the semi-finals in Beijing and Shanghai in his two previous tournaments.

Medvedev will be the favourite to end his trophy drought and come through this one.
