Coleman Wong produced another shock under the spotlight at a Masters 1000 event in the USA as he downed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard to reach the second round in Cincinnati.

The Chinese starlet caught the eye with a surprise win over Ben Shelton earlier the year in Miami and he took another scalp here, defeating the towering Frenchman 6-3 6-2.

The 21-year-old world number 168 now takes on 20th seed Ugo Humbert for the very first time.

It is another French opponent for the qualifier and he will fancy he chances of another upset given that Humbert has not featured since a first round loss at Wimbledon.

Wong certainly has the energy to make life difficult for Humbert and if he shows any sort of rustiness, he may well come unstuck and suffer a third straight loss.
