Whilst Daniel Altmaier made it through the opening round in the Canadian Open prior to Cincinnati, he was outclassed by eventual finalist Brandon Nakashima in round two. However, there was positives to take from that tournament for him and he can use that to fuel a deeper run this time around with a qualifier on deck in round one.
Coleman Wong clutched up in his second qualifier match, winning both sets via a tie-break. Whilst that demonstrates strong mental ability, that must have taken a lot out of him physically and he has little time to dwell on the result. Altmaier is a tough match-up but there are flaws in his game which Wong could exploit. Don’t be surprise if this one goes the distance.
