Coleman Wong advanced to his first tour-level semi-final as he beat Jenson Brooksby at the Los Cabos Open. The 22-year-old made a fast start and crucially broke at the end of the second set to win 6-1 7-5. He will also enter the top 100 of the rankings for the first time in his career next week.
He will now face Arthur Gea for a place in the final. The Frenchman continued his brilliant record on hard courts this season as he came from a set down to beat third seed Francisco Cerundolo. A remarkable first set tiebreak saw Gea spurn three set points as Cerundolo edged ahead, but he then dominated the rest of the match to win 6-7 (11) 6-4 6-0. Gea now has a 16-2 win-loss record on the surface in 2026.
Wong also beat top seed Jiri Lehecka in the round-of-16, and both of these players have showcased their undoubted quality this week. There is little to separate the pair, and this could go all the way to a deciding set.
