Coco Gauff vs Sofia Kenin Prediction

There is plenty of noise around Coco Gauff's Australian Open prospects this year after the world number three claimed both Singles and Mixed Doubles titles in the recent United Cup with Team USA. Gauff was in red-hot form during that event, and will be hoping to improve upon her semi-final run in Melbourne 12 months ago.

The American also ended 2024 in fine fashion by claiming her first WTA Finals title, during which she defeated both Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka – the only players ahead of the 20-year-old in the WTA rankings.

Sofia Kenin has won just one match at the Australian Open since she was crowned champion in 2020, with a combination of loss of form and injuries seeing her tumble down the rankings since then, although the American has been free of any serious physical issues for a number of months now.

The 26-year-old, also a French Open finalist in the same year as her Australian triumph, did reach the final of the 500-rated Pan Pacific Open last year, and also won two prominent Doubles events alongside Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Kenin is a fierce competitor on her day, but not many players on the WTA Tour can live with Gauff right now. Many are tipping her to go all the way in Melbourne this year, and we’re tipping her to start with a straight-sets win over her compatriot.

Coco Gauff vs Sofia Kenin Tip: Coco Gauff to win 2-0
