Coco Gauff will be aiming to win Indian Wells for the first time as she gets her campaign underway. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion has never reached the final, with her career best being a last four appearance in 2024. The American last competed in Dubai and got through to the semi-finals, where she lost to Elina Svitolina in a three set epic, which lasted over three hours.

The world number four plays Kamilla Rakhimova in the second-round after receiving a bye. Rakhimova came from a set down to beat 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu in round one. A close first set went the way of the Canadian, but it was one-way traffic after that, as Rakhimova dominated sets two and three to win 6-7 (6) 6-0 6-1.

Gauff leads the head-to-head 2-0. They have already faced each other this year, with Gauff comfortably winning their encounter in the first-round of the Australian Open. This is likely to be a similar type of result.
